🎓 Admission and invitation
Select a programme on the university’s official website. Check prior qualification, teaching language, examinations, fees, deadlines, start dates and housing. Prepare passport, academic records and required translations. Legalization, academic recognition and translation are separate: ask what applies to your qualification. For the government quota use Education in Russia and your country’s announcement for the relevant year; registration does not guarantee a scholarship.
After admission obtain the official visa invitation and check name, passport, institution, dates and study purpose. Admission does not replace the invitation. Before paying, obtain written confirmation that your university can currently issue an invitation for your nationality. HSE publishes a suspension including Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Yemen and Libya. Do not generalize it to every university or scholarship route.

✈️ After visa issuance and arrival
Check name, passport number, purpose, dates and permitted entries on collection and comply with your issued visa. Coordinate arrival and accommodation with your university and carry originals and copies. Check that the migration card indicates study. Contact university and accommodation immediately for migration registration and follow their deadline.
Students subject to requirements for stays exceeding 90 days must complete medical examinations, fingerprinting and photography. HSE states that the medical deadline became 30 days after entry from 1 September 2026. Use authorized organizations; tests performed at home do not automatically replace procedures required in Russia.
Contact the university early for visa and registration renewal. HSE requires the extension file at least 45 days before expiry and states that extensions may last up to one year at a time according to study duration. Follow your institution’s current requirements. Do not assume a single-entry visa permits return after leaving.

Are fees and times identical? No: check the filing office, nationality and visa type. Admission, invitation and appointment waiting are separate from processing.
