Minors
Depending on category, prepare enrolment, school results, accommodation, funding, insurance, parental authorisation and a responsible person in France. Mineur scolarisé covers specific cases, including a minor studying separately from parents who do not reside in France. If parents live in France or the programme is university-level, use the actual situation in the visa assistant.
Examinations or competitions in France
France-Visas excludes Algerians from étudiant-concours visas. Check Campus France’s examination procedure and the appropriate short-stay route; prepare the invitation and required evidence. This does not guarantee conversion to long-term study residence in France.
Study-related internships
Prepare a three-party agreement between you, the educational institution and French host. For more than 90 days, the instructions require prior administrative approval. Internship visas, resources and residence are distinct from ordinary university study.
Exchanges, scholarships and joint diplomas
Prepare host admission, agreement, funding certificate and dates. Confirm exemptions explicitly: “exchange student” or “scholarship holder” alone does not cancel requirements.
Doctorates and research
Start with the doctoral school, supervisor, admission and funding. Prepare a cotutelle agreement if applicable. With a research convention d’accueil, check the relevant long-stay visa and Algerian “scientifique” residence certificate; do not automatically apply general talent-chercheur rules. Without a hosting agreement, confirm the student route with Campus France.
Work-study programmes
Check the contract type. Algerian apprenticeship applicants generally need more than one year in France, with exceptions for master’s programmes and certain qualifications recognised by the Conférence des grandes écoles. Professionnalisation has a more-than-one-year residence condition. The employer must obtain work authorisation; school admission and a company offer alone are insufficient.
Medicine, pharmacy and healthcare specialisation
Distinguish beginning healthcare studies, dispense d’études based on prior healthcare study or qualifications, and DFMS/DFMSA. The dispense page consulted has a February 2026 deadline from an earlier cycle.
Student note: the Algeria-specific dispense d’études deadline for 2027–2028 was not confirmed. Do not automatically turn February 2026 into February 2027 or use another country’s deadline.
For DFMS/DFMSA 2027–2028, Strasbourg’s cycle-specific announcement requires the abbreviated first dossier by email by 10 December 2026, and the complete first dossier for the local French post by 15 January 2027. Follow annexes 1A and 1A bis.
Student note: the Campus France specialisation page contains conflicting dates. Use Strasbourg’s 2027–2028 announcement and official annexes, and check the second dossier’s deadlines when published.
French B2 is required, or an institution-issued personalised statement confirming all medical studies were in French. Check eligibility, retain originals and submit prescribed copies. DFMS/DFMSA alone do not authorise medical practice in France. Healthcare DU/DIU programmes have separate conditions and do not automatically replace medical enrolment or practice authorisation.
Language-only or private vocational courses
Admission to a language course or private school does not guarantee student-visa eligibility. Verify the procedure and programme’s eligibility before payment, including its connection with the academic plan, then use the true purpose of stay in France-Visas.
Spouse and children
This guide provides no automatic accompanying-family visa through the student visa. Each relative has an individual situation and application based on relationship, nationality and duration.
