Russia Study Visa for Algerian Students: Admission, Documents and Arrival Procedures

Before paying, ask the university to confirm in writing that it can currently issue a study visa invitation to an Algerian passport holder. HSE publishes a temporary suspension including Algeria. This does not establish that all Russian universities or all scholarship routes are suspended.

Check the university's official website for the previous qualification required, teaching language, entrance examinations, fees and payment terms, application and start dates, and accommodation. Requirements vary by institution and programme. Most programmes are in Russian; some are in English. If needed, ask about a preparatory year and the requirements for progressing to the main programme.

For paid study, apply through the university's official channel and complete admission, examinations, the tuition agreement and payment requirements. For the government quota, use Education in Russia and the selection announcement for Algeria for the relevant year. Follow your account, document requests, results and final allocation. Registration does not guarantee a scholarship or invitation.

• Photograph and programme-specific documents.

• Language or medical evidence when required.

Obtain the university's final list before arranging translations.

Legalization authenticates a document; recognition assesses its academic value; translation conveys its contents. RosNOU's instructions list Algeria among countries whose educational documents benefit from a bilateral legalization exemption. Do not assume that every student must obtain an apostille or consular legalization. Send your qualification and transcripts to the university to establish the precise translation and recognition requirements. An exemption does not mean automatic admission. After admission, contact the international office for the official invitation needed for the visa. Check your name, passport number, university, dates and purpose. An admission letter does not replace the invitation. Follow instructions on electronic copies or originals.

From 12 October 2026, the embassy states that correspondence and requests addressed to its consular section are received exclusively by email at algerie@kdmid.ru. This announcement alone does not establish that the entire visa application and original passport are submitted online. Ask for the current checklist, appointment process, passport submission and payment instructions before attending or sending documents.

The embassy's 2021 notice mentions two blank pages and passport validity of at least 18 months after the requested visa expires. Confirm the current rule; do not apply tourist visa passport rules to study. Some official Russian consular instructions require a negative HIV test less than three months old; confirm the format and requirement applicable in Algeria locally.

Completing the online form does not mean the application has been submitted or approved.

The indexed embassy schedule lists an ordinary single-entry visa at DZD 11,120 with 4–20 working days, or DZD 22,240 with 1–3 working days. This does not guarantee express service availability or that the fee applies to every study route. Confirm the fee, possible exemption and payment process when applying. Invitation preparation is separate from visa processing.

Check your name, passport number, visa purpose, dates and permitted entries. An initial visa may be issued for up to 90 days; your issued visa is authoritative. Coordinate arrival and accommodation with the university and carry required originals and copies.

Check that your migration card identifies study as your entry purpose. Immediately contact the international office and accommodation provider for migration registration. Keep your passport, visa, migration card and registration proof. Follow your university's deadline; RUDN mentions three working days. Moving accommodation, re-entering or renewing your visa may require registration updates.

Students subject to these requirements staying for more than 90 days must complete medical examinations, fingerprinting and photography. HSE's update states that the medical examination deadline became 30 calendar days after entry from 1 September 2026. Use an authorized facility and coordinate other deadlines with the university. A test submitted in Algeria does not automatically replace procedures required in Russia.

Contact the university early to renew both the visa and migration registration. HSE requires the extension application at least 45 days before expiry and states that extensions may cover up to one year at a time according to study duration. Follow your own university's current rules and maintain valid passport, registration and medical certificates. Do not assume that a single-entry visa allows return after travelling abroad; coordinate travel or a university change beforehand.

Does admission guarantee a visa? No. Admission, invitation and the visa decision are separate.

Are language and preparatory year requirements identical for everyone? No. They depend on your programme, level and university.

Can the original passport be sent by email? No. Ask how copies and the original must be submitted.

Does HSE's suspension cover all universities? Do not generalize without official confirmation. Check with the issuing university and consular section.
