Part 1 of 13
🎓 University Admission: Where to begin?

Choose the program from the official university website, then review the requirements for previous qualifications, specialization, language, documents, fees, and application deadlines. These requirements vary depending on the institution and program. Apply through the university's portal, then request the enrollment certificate needed for the visa application. Review the refund policy before making any payments.
Part 2 of 13
📑 Diploma Recognition: What is required for my case?
Bachelor's and Integrated Master's after Baccalaureate: As of July 1, 2025, the Embassy requires a document from the director of the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) confirming the eligibility of the Algerian Baccalaureate for these studies. Obtain it before submitting your visa application.
Master's after Bachelor's: Ask the university about the recognition of your university diploma and the appropriate NAWA document; the Baccalaureate document is not a substitute for the evaluation of a Bachelor's degree. Doctorate and University Exchange: Follow the institution's requirements and contact the consulate regarding the appointment. If the Baccalaureate has already been recognized by the Polish regional education authority, check for an exception with NAWA instead of repeating the procedure.

🖥️ NAWA Document: How do I request it?
Open the official NAWA page and read the SYRENA system guide.
Prepare your Baccalaureate, transcript, required previous education document, passport, and certified translations.
Attach a name change document or parental consent for minors, if applicable.
Upload files in PDF or JPG format according to the published limits, and complete the application.
Activate the application from the link you receive by email, then track its status and download the result.
The service is free, and the result is a Polish PDF document digitally signed. It does not replace university admission. French is not among the languages exempted from translation in the NAWA list; follow the agency's specific translation requirements.
Part 4 of 13
🗣️ Proof of Language: Is IELTS mandatory?
Proof of language of study at a minimum B2 level with an accepted document is required. IELTS is not the only option; examples published based on July 2025 regulations include: IELTS with a score of at least 5.5, TOEFL iBT with a score of 72, and PTE Academic with a score of 59. The program may require a higher level. Verify the acceptance of your document with the university and the consulate, and do not consider a university interview as an automatic substitute for the required proof. For studies in Polish, check the accepted proof of Polish language proficiency and the requirements for the preparatory course.

📜 Document Legalization: Apostille and Translation
The Apostille system came into effect in Algeria on July 9, 2026, covering sectors including national education and higher education. Determine the procedure according to the type of document and its country of use via the instructions of the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then request the Apostille from the competent authority if applicable. The Apostille does not replace translation or academic recognition. Translation requirements differ for the consulate, university, and NAWA; check each entity separately.

📅 Booking an Appointment: Which category should I choose?
Book via e-Konsulat. For starting a Bachelor's or Master's degree, choose «Visa national – études (1ère année)». For subsequent years, use the study continuation category if available; do not book under the first-year category. For Doctorate or Erasmus+, contact the consulate: alger.consul@msz.gov.pl. Appointments are subject to availability, and university admission does not guarantee an appointment or a visa.
Part 7 of 13
🛂 Visa Application File: What documents should I prepare?
e-Konsulat form printed and signed, and the appointment confirmation page.
Two recent photos 35 × 45 mm with a light background.
Passport issued within the last ten years, with two blank pages, valid for three months after the expected departure, and copies of data, visas, and stamps.
Proof of residence within the consular district, and enrollment or study continuation certificate.
Language document, NAWA document if applicable, and proof of paid tuition fees.
Proof of accommodation, funding, and round-trip flight reservation.
Insurance covering the visa duration with a minimum of 30,000 euros and meeting national visa requirements.
For minors
parental consent, parents' passports, birth certificate, and documents required according to guardianship status.
Bring originals and copies. Arabic documents must be translated into Polish, French, or English for the consulate. Additional documents may be requested.
Part 8 of 13
💰 Funding and Accommodation: How to prove my financial capability?
Cover tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, and return travel for the entire required period. Prepare proof of accommodation and its costs, and documents for self-funding or scholarship. If relying on a sponsor, prepare the certified commitment of support, the sponsor's identity, and proof of their resources, according to consular instructions.
For the visa application in Algeria: Confirm the current financial amount and accepted documents with the consulate before submission; do not rely on a figure from a Polish mission list in another country. The Algerian page contains figures that differ from newer government lists, therefore, old figures should not be treated as a guarantee of sufficient funding.
For residency application after arrival: The immigration portal currently shows 1,010 PLN per month for a student without dependents, in addition to accommodation, fees, and return travel, and 823 PLN per person in the household if there are dependents according to file conditions. These are residency requirements and not a confirmation of the consular amount in Algeria.
Part 9 of 13
💳 Fees, Submission, and Processing
According to the embassy's fee schedule valid since January 1, 2026, the national visa application fee is 30,420 DZD, and the appeal fee is 30,420 DZD. Check the tariff before the appointment. The student submits the application in person, and fees are paid in cash in Dinars according to embassy instructions; they are not refundable in case of refusal.
The Polish Embassy's page states that the application should be submitted no more than six months and no less than two weeks before travel. However, the study section mentions processing can take up to 60 days; therefore, plan early and do not consider two weeks as the expected processing time. The duration for the appointment, obtaining NAWA, and admission is separate from visa processing.
Part 10 of 13
📩 Decision: What to do in case of refusal?
Follow the collection instructions given by the consulate. In case of refusal, read the reasons and review rights in the decision; the embassy mentions a 14-day period from notification to request a re-examination. Check current tariffs instead of old figures on some pages.
Part 11 of 13
🏠 After Arrival: How to apply for residency?
If you need to stay beyond the allowed period, start your temporary residence permit application for studies early before your legal stay expires. As of April 27, 2026, residence applications covered by the system are submitted electronically via MOS to the competent authority in your place of residence.
Prepare proof of studies, insurance, and funding, as well as the supplementary form completed by the university, and follow the current MOS list and office invitations to complete the procedures. The student signs electronically with a reliable or qualified signature; an intermediary cannot sign on their behalf. For minors or persons lacking full legal capacity, the competent legal representative signs.
